Darfuri Refugee Schools

The Darfur Dream Team Sister Schools Program is currently raising funds to support 12 Darfuri schools in Djabal and Goz Amer refugee camps in eastern Chad.

Djabal

Djabal is one of the southernmost Darfuri refugee camps in eastern Chad. As of 2011, Djabal had a population of 17,535 refugees; nearly 60% are under the age of 18. 4,174 children are enrolled in one of the 6 primary schools in Djabal. The schools in Djabal camp were the first to be funded by the Darfur Dream Team Sister Schools Program.

Goz Amer

Goz Amer refugee camp is located near Djabal camp, in southeastern Chad. As of 2011, Goz Amer had a population of 20,601 Darfuri refugees. 6,216 students are enrolled in one of the 6 primary schools in Goz Amer, but more than 60% of the camp's population is under age 18. Goz Amer will be the second camp to have its schools receive Darfur Dream Team Sister Schools Program funding.
